when you function from a place of lacking, you are the world’s.
.
when you function from a place of abundance, the world is yours.

I put down the dice.
and started making decisions.

cycles
are circles
tied tightly around the hands of time.
history isn’t repeating itself,
we are often simply walking in circles.
and lately I’ve been breaking negative cycles.
so much that it makes me wonder
if emancipated slaves ever got home sick;
or ever felt homeless;
or if stepping off of the plantation felt like stepping out of bounds.
afraid to bleed,
day-dreaming nightmares of blood hounds;
what was more frightening?
going back?
or going forward?
as if trying to protect your life wasn’t enough,
now you must protect your freedom.
.
and what would happen if birds were afraid of falling?

All things, with the exception of Nature, are powerless without our authority. People, Places, and Things exist on their own but function on the power they are each given from others (as in people, and animals even). To live under the will of someone/something else’s power you must first agree. Life is a reflection of balance so, when you perceive a man to be stronger than you, what you really perceive is yourself to be weaker than him. And in truth he is only stronger than you because you have literally given him your power; he is functioning off of your power. The same applies to words, before you can learn words you must first authorize and agree to their meaning; if you do not attach meaning to letters or sounds, they will not be memorized, and they will be powerless when spoken to you. You can even apply this to places. This reveals why most interaction in society is a series of convincing; from architecture, to attire; because without each other’s authority, we are all powerless.

Often times men’s eyes are fixed on the moment, while women’s eyes are fixed on the future. But for three nights, our eyes were fixed on each other, bodies and hands, became time intersecting. Lips, parallel Universes gently colliding. Our worlds never becoming one, conversation was both bridge and barrier. Our hearts, like abandoned buildings; for three nights Love was a squatter here. She knew God. I could tell by her courage, her openness, and by the fact that deep down she knows rejection doesn’t exist. We weren’t what the other wanted, but we were what we both needed: proof that what we want, does exist. And, for the first time in my Life, I met a woman that deserved to be Loved.

whether misguided
or misunderstood,
eyes wide open,
